Telemachus, in Phillies hat, aided by Athena in disguise (sunglasses), goes to visit old king Nestor in Pylos (clad in geometric scarf), to learn what happened to the Greeks on the way back from Troy. Nestor talks about Odysseus' various comrades in war, including Agamemnon, brother of Menelaus, one of the primary leaders of the Greek expedition, who was killed when he got home to Mycenae by Aegisthus, a rival claimant to the throne, with the help of Aegisthus' lover, Agamemnon's own wife, Clytemnestra, sister of Helen. In this conversation (which I abridged for time), Nestor explains that Menelaus was not around to help his brother out against the usurper, because he was in Egypt, gathering wealth; Agamemnon therefore came home all alone, to receive the worst possible welcome home for a returning veteran. Eventually, Agamemnon's son Orestes took revenge for his father by killing Aegisthus -- a teachable moment for Telemachus, as he tries to figure out what to do with his mother's suitors.
