@Prairielily044 years ago A great list with a lot of choices for every taste! I am more of a mainstream reader so I likely would not read most of your list. I just picked up Small Game Hunting and will read one of Richard Wagamese’s books for the week! Miriam Toews is my favourite Canadian author! Thanks for this! 🇨🇦🙋‍♀️📚🌾 ... 1

@marie-joseedrolet96554 years ago Just a week! It’s not long enough for this challenge, it would have to last all August. And I really appreciated that you pronounce "Québécois" and not "Quebecers". Thank you and thank you for these recommendations.😊 ... 1

@IvyTran134 years ago I definitely need to read some more indigenous reads! Thank you for the recommendations. The only canlit I’ve read was Vi by Kim Thuy, which I totally recommend if you haven’t read it!

@distant_sounds4 years ago Great video. I want so many of those books. Beware I don't break in and steal them all :P
Canlit is my favourite of all countries. You have some amazing authors up there. Still sucks so much that Richard Wagamese is no longer with us. ...

@TheQuietMidden4 years ago Really great Canadian book list! Nice to see.
I just finished The North-West is Our Mother by Jean Teillet. It was excellent. Would recommend. :)
Oh, and yeah, the CR debates were messy this year. Yikes. Was rooting for Small Game Hunting.

@JHarder10004 years ago This is fascinating. Iam an American who loves Canada and its culture., and I believe Americans should know more about the literature of their northern neighbor.

@KnowledgelostOrgOnline4 years ago I have been terrible at commenting on videos, problem with watch later and iPad watching. I’m also commenting here because I was hoping for more Canadian translations here, I loved The Dishwasher and have read two other great French Canadian novels this year... but I need more. I was recommended Songs for the Cold of Heart (The American Fiancée) by Èric Dupont (translated by Peter McCambridge) but August is so that won’t happen soon. ...

@esunsalmista4 years ago I’m such a slow reader, it would have been much easier to hear that I could discard an entire country’s literature. That really would have been good news. Now I’ll have to add some of these to my TBR. 👎/👍 Might compromise and listen to a couple of them even though audiobooks make me feel dirty. 😀 ...

@booksoverbreakfast4 years ago I love hearing about the books selected for Canada reads but I can’t stand the debates. They’re always so messy!

@felixarquer77324 years ago When you say that “Canada is a bilingual country” you are leaving out all the indigenous languages, which (just like the fact that only French and English are official) is a serious discrimination. Also, when discussing indigenous authors, I think it should be made explicit whether any of them originally write in their indigenous language. Indigenous languages matter. ... 2

@JHarder10004 years ago Sorry, but where are the Canadian classics? Two Solitudes, And This I My Beloved, Creighton's Life Of McDonald, The Watch That Ends The Night, Lament For A Nation, Time As History, All of Leacock. White Oaks OF Jalna, Beautiful Losers, The Malaise Of Modernity, The Distemper Of our Times, Barometer Rising, That Summer In Paris, etc.? ...
